2012 - Genesis
Balance opened its doors on the 24th February 2012. Intent on creating a sleek, modern retail experience as well as offering a selection of high quality, functional smoking products, the Balance team spent their first year expanding and refining the product range as well as nurturing a loyal customer base.
2013 - Hard graft
The first website was launched. An ambitious plan to translate the singular aesthetics of the shop into website form was met with a steep learning curve. Long hours were spent reorganising the product line and reassessing brand direction ultimately resulting in a more focused vision for the future.
2014 - Life Is Balance
Almost exactly two years after opening, Balance became a limited company under the name Life is Balance. Development started on a new website and work began on a clothing line. The concept of a company offering something beyond the basic retail experience took form. This ethos became central to the brand’s identity and direction.
2015 - Science. Spirit. Sense
In early 2015 a dedicated jewellery and homeware website - Norbu - was launched. An inaugural poster range was made available in store and online, showcasing upcoming artists such as Rob Scrace and Mila K. Meanwhile work continued on strengthening a now considerable range of own-brand products. Strong new relationships were forged directly with manufacturers, offering previously unavailable creative possibilities. The vision was becoming a reality.
2016 - Present - Going Global
2016 saw the launch of our new website. We rolled out a more streamlined online retail experience, resolving any previous issues. The R&D department is now, finally, ready to unveil the latest in our line of innovative, bespoke products and we’re excited to write the next chapter with you at our side.
